JOB DESCRIPTION

ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY OFFICER

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Compliance to national requirements to maintain a safe working environment

  • Manage the day-to-day operations for the effective implementation of the organization’s Health & Safety Management System according to OHSAS 18001

  • Ensure continuation of the OHSAS 18001 certification

  • Conduct regular risk assessments for all buildings

  • Conduct regular inspections and internal audits

  • Monitor the implementation and effective closure of corrective and preventive actions

  • Assist with the development of the Business Continuity Plan

  • Coordinate the Malpractice Insurance for students.

  • Develop and deliver Health & Safety induction training, awareness and coordinate outsourced training programs (such as First Aid at work)

  • Assist in the development process of an Environmental Management System according to ISO14001

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor degree preferably in Engineering or Sciences

  • Master in relevant field or NEBOSH General Certificate would be considered an advantage

  • 2-3 years of practical experience working as Health & Safety Officer

  • Very good knowledge of OHSAS 18001 and ISO Management Systems and experience in certification process

  • Have the required hours of training to obtain the Labour Office Approval for Health & Safety Representative

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both Greek and English languages

  • Excellent computing skills

  • Excellent Project Management and analytical skills

  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team

Responsibilities 

This is a great opportunity for a passionate individual who seeks a position of challenge in a fast paced, dynamic environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the operations of the Organisation and will report to the Board of Directors. Main responsibilities include: 

  • Cooperate closely with the Board of Directors in formulating the Organisation’s strategy 

  • Drive the implementation of action programmes and activities to achieve set targets 

  • Monitor the Organisation’s financial position according to set budgets 

  • Ensure compliance with the Organisation’s operational framework 

  • Design the Organisation’s communication strategy; implement and oversee the communication programmes 

  • Maintain and expand relationships with key existing and new industry partners and monitor agreements 

  • Liaise and network with a range of stakeholders both locally and abroad 

  • Set up or improve existing processes and procedures 

  • Manage and develop the Organisation’s management team 

Profile of the ideal candidate 

  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior management role is a must 

  • Proven track record demonstrating an all rounded business understanding 

  • University degree preferably in an Engineering / Environmental related field 

  • Previous exposure with environmental management will be considered an advantage 

  • Dynamic with an ability to take initiative and deliver results 

  • Strong leadership and managerial skills 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 

  • Computer literate 

  • Excellent written and verbal knowledge of Greek and English
