Prof. Simona ŠAROTAR ŽIŽEK, PhD

University of Maribor, Faculty of Economics and Business (Slovenia)

 Simona Šarotar Žižek, Full Professor holds PhD in Economic and Business Sciences. She has completed her theoretical knowledge permanently through practical work. After 9 years in Mura, she joined the University of Maribor, Faculty of Economics and Business in 2007 as a Management lecturer specializing in Human Resource Management and other topics connected to organizational behavior (like occupational safety and health, well-being,..). She is head of the Institute of Management and Organization and Head of the University education program (3+) “Business Management in Organization”. She is the author and/or co-author of 90 scientific articles published in international and Slovenian journals and of +100 papers presented at scientific and expert conferences. She is also the author and/or co-author of +4 scientific monographs and +104 chapters in scientific and expert monographs. The paper 'Creating a healthy company by occupational health promotion as a part of social responsibility' published in Kybernetes was selected by the journal’s editorial team as a Highly Commended paper in the 2017 Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence. On the occasion of its 60th anniversary, the faculty awarded her with a special award for her contribution to the development of the faculty. She was a visiting professor at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Economics, Croatia, and the University of Rijeka, Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management for one semester.


She was also the leader of international Interreg projects such as Smart Production, Regio Help, and Chance4Change on behalf of her partner's organization. She also participated in other international projects such as Culture4leadership: A Research of intercultural leadership competencies in four different EU Countries. She was actively involved in research projects: in Targeted Research Project under Prof. Dr. Sonja Sibila Lebe and the basic research project under Prof. Dr., Dr. Matjaž Mulej. She is now a member of the research program P5-0027: Adapting the Slovenian Economy and Her Developmental Identity to the EU. 


She conducts seminars and workshops in organizations in various economic sectors and works as a consultant. She is also active as an expert in the field of health and safety at the Ministry of Labor, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, Slovenia, and in a group of Slovenian experts for occupational safety and health at EU-OSHA. She is a Slovenian Government Council for Active Aging and Intergenerational Cooperation member.

Dr. Patricia Helen Rosen

Researcher, German Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA)

Patricia Helen Rosen is a researcher within the unit "Human Factors, Economics" at the German Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA). She holds a psychology degree and has recently finished her PHD. Her fields of expertise are human-centred workplace design and human-robot interaction (HRI). In her research, she focuses on cognitive ergonomics and mental states in relation to HRI, like the assessment of HRI-quality or task design in HRI teams. Within the unit "Human Factors,


Economics" she supervises the working group "Physical work assistance". She is one of the young delegates for the German human factors association (GfA-NEXT) and an active member of the Technical Committee Human Factors in Robotics of the International Ergonomics Association.


Kyrillos Spyridopoulos

Research Manager ECORYS Brussels BVU 

Kyrillos is an Alexander S. Onassis Scholar working as a Research Manager for Ecorys. He holds an MSc in Social Policy Research from the London School of Economics. Kyrillos has five years of experience in international projects for several European Commission Directorate-Generals and Agencies, including DG EMPL and EU-OSHA. Kyrillos has ISCED-7 training in qualitative research methods and post-graduate certificates in conversational interviewing and analysing interview data. 


Agnieszka Makulec

Quality Assurrance Director ECORYS Polska

Agnieszka Makulec is a professional with over 15 years of professional experience in research and project management. She holds an MA in INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS from Warsaw School of Economics and an MA in PSYCHOLOGY from the University of Warsaw. Before joining Ecorys, she worked for ICF, ILO and the Centre for Migration Studies. She has expertise in occupational health and safety, employment and social policy. She was the project manager for a previous EU-OSHA study on French OiRA tools.


Prof. Maria Michailidis

Professor and former Dean of the School of Business, University of Nicosia 

Professor Dr Maria P. Michailidis holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration-Management, two Master degrees in Community-Social Psychology and Clinical Psychology and a Doctorate degree of Education in Educational Leadership, from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell Massachusetts, USA and the University of Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. She is also a Client-Centered Psychotherapist with a Diploma in Psychotherapy of The Person-Centered Approach (PCA), a certified Trauma Therapist with the Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing method (EMDR) and finally, a Career Guidance Counselor


Dr Michailidis is a professor and the former Dean of the School of Business at the University of Nicosia, Cyprus and a member of the Management Department, and the Director of the Markidakis Open Forecasting Center (MOFC) of the Institute For the Future (IFF) of the University of Nicosia, Cyprus.   In the past, she served as the Head of the Education Department of the University of Nicosia and Intercollege.


Elena Demosthenous

Standards Officer, Cyprus Organisation for Standardisation (CYS)

Elena holds a BSc in Chemistry and an MBA from the University of Cyprus and works since 2006, at the Cyprus Organisation for Standardisation (CYS). She is the National Member of the Technical Board of the European Standardisation Organisation (CEN) and the CYS officer responsible for standardisation in the sectors of Healthcare, Occupational Health & Safety, Consumer Safety, Quality and Food & Feed at European and International level, as well as the management of the respective Mirror and Technical committees at National level.  


She participates actively as an expert in a number of European & International Technical Standardisation committees in these fields, and she is an HRDA certified trainer/lecturer in several topics such as Standards & Standards Development, Healthcare, Patient Satisfaction and safety, Quality management, Occupational Health & Safety, PPE & CE Marking, Consumer safety, Use of standards in Public tenders, etc. 


Additionally, she is a Certified Lead Auditor for Quality Management and Environmental Management Systems in many sectors, including chemicals, healthcare, manufacturing, food, private and public services, and a Technical expert in Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems in several fields. She is also actively involved in hospital accreditation in cooperation with an ISQua accredited organization. 


Marilena Nicolaou

Standards Officer for Services & Administration, Cyprus Organisation for Standardisation (CYS) 

Marilena holds a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, Education and Psychology from the University of Athens (BA) and a Master’s degree in Management in Education (Med) from the University of Newcastle Upon Tune. 

Since 2007, she has been working at the Cyprus Organisation for Standardisation (CYS) as a Standards Officer for Services & Administration. From this position, she is responsible for the standardisation work in the field of Services in National, European and International Standardisation System dealing with the sectors of Business Support Services, Human Resources Management, Tourist Services, Terminology & Language Resources, Education and Learning Services, Service Excellence, Social Responsibility and Gender Equality. 


She actively participates in European and International Standardization Technical Committees related to services sector, always aiming to safeguard the national interests. At National level, she manages, monitors, and coordinates as Secretary the work of National Technical and Mirror Standardisation Committees, which develop standards and technical specifications related to services. Furthermore, she prepares articles and publications and delivers lectures and training sessions for this sector. 


Prof. George M. Spyrou

Bioinformatics ERA Chair, Professor and Head of the Bioinformatics Department, The Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics

Prof. George M. Spyrou is the Bioinformatics European Research Area Chair Holder and the Head of the Bioinformatics Department (C-BIG) at the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics (CING). 


He holds a BSc on Physics, an MSc on Medical Physics and an MSc on Bioinformatics. During his PhD he worked on algorithms and simulations focusing on breast imaging. 


Prior to his current position, he worked for 15 years at the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens (BRFAA), as a Staff Research Scientist of levels B and A, 


working in the fields of biomedical informatics, holding also the position of the Head of the Department of Informatics and New Technologies of BRFAA for over 10 years. 


Dr. Spyrou is a Senior IEEE Member and a member of the Editorial Board in the journals Briefings in Bioinformatics, BMC Bioinformatics and Frontiers in Bioinformatics.


Michalis Stylianou

Commercial and Business Development Manager CyRIC IoT

Michalis Stylianou is the Commercial & Business Development Manager of CyRIC IoT. He holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science and an MSc in Telecommunications from NTUA. He has extensive experience in the solution architecture and deployment in the industries of Home and Building Automation, Building Management Systems, and Building Energy Management Systems, focusing in the last 5 years in IoT-based solutions in these industries. He is a member of the CyRIC team since 2013 and leading the CyRIC IoT team since 2020.”

Dr. Olga Nicolaidou

Occupational Safety and Health Researcher

Olga Nicolaidou holds a PhD in Occupational Safety & Health (OSH), a BEng in Civil Engineering, an MSc in Water and Environmental Engineering and an MBA. Since 2007 is a Labour Inspection Officer at the Department of Labour Inspection in Cyprus and since 2019 is a Focal Point Manager of the EU-OSHA. She has wide experience in workplace inspections, health and safety legislation enforcement and investigation of occupational accidents and dangerous occurrences.


Olga is also a Research Associate at CERIDES of the European University Cyprus, having a research interest on the impact of weak signals management on OSH, emphasizing in the elimination of occupational accidents, work-related diseases and dangerous occurrences. Her research has been published in peer reviewed journals and has many participations in international conferences on OSH, as a moderator, presenter and as a member of the organizing committee.
